3rd Generation How do I Use the Gen 3 Cruise and PWR?

I know were the cruise is at and what it does but im a bit confuse on what some of the functions listed on it does. Can someone explain to me what moving down/up and pulling back the cruise stick does?

and also what the PWR button near the automatic stick is for?

when and when not to use them.

thanks.

OK, this is in my experience (and how I use my cruise control)

Press the button to turn it on, then when you're at the speed you desire, push the stick down to set the speed. While cruising, pushing the stick up will increase the speed, pulling it back cancels the cruise control.

On some cruise controls, pushing the brake (which turns it off), then pressing resume is supposed to resume the speed, while pressing reset is supposed to set it at the current speed (I'm not sure whether the Camry has that functionality)

PWR basically delays upshifts to nearer the redline than usual. This is practically useless for the 5SFE since the engine is not rev happy at all.

^ Ditto

When you press the PWR button near the gear selector, the shift points become more aggressive. It's supposed to give you more power (as the name implies) but it comes at the expense of fuel economy. I haven't driven an I4 gen 3 Camry but the V6 has more than enough power so there really isn't a need for the PWR button.

all the PWR does is hold the shift till near redline and make down shifts more sensitive to throttle position. this allows the engine to take advantage of the higher rpm where it makes more of its power but will eat gas. its good for passing and merging, things like that,
