3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have seen carbon fiber hoods for the camry, and i think it would look good with my white, however do they really make that much of a difference? would it be worth the money to purchase one?
Well, it's like 50lbs for the stock hood, and about 12lbs or so for the CF hood. The lighter your car the better the acceleration, and better gas mileage. Plus, there is the style factor. I already have a CF trunk lid, and I want to get a CF hood myself. I say go for it if you can get.

Weight reduction is a good thing on a race car but on a street car, any perceived difference in performance would really be psychological. What the heck though... I say if you like the look, go for it. Nothing wrong with that. A lot of the stuff we do to our rides is just because we like.
i would say go for it, it will look great. and even if it gives no performance, wouldnt it be much nicer to work under a 12lb hood than a 50lb one? i think you have hood struts on gen 3 so i didnt mention having to lift it yourself like on my gen 4 (that hood weighs a ton).
well i was about to go and buy the hood but my fathers friend offered me his old car. He recently got rear ended and the insurance company paid him up and he still has the car. its a 1998 camry, maroon, radiator leaks, he thinks it will need a starter soon, and the rear bumper needs to be replaced. He wants 1000 for it, im gonna see it tommorow afternoon and might come home with another cam ill let let yall know whats up, most likley gonna buy it and repair.
depending on mileage that should be a good deal. mine is like 150k and sells for around 5k-6k in my area.
v6 right?
i think its just over 150k , i dont think its a v6 im unsure. ill post pics and everything tommorow, im going to see at at 3, maybe even make a thread.
