94 Camry 4cly smoking
My 94 Camry 4cly started smoking yesterday. Not only is this a bad habit, my wife and I agree it sets the wrong example for our two little girls.
No seriously, The family Camry started producing copious amounts of blueish grey smoke Friday. Normally I would think it was a head gasket but there is no coolant present in the oil, no coolant smell to the smoke and , the strange part to me, it is intermittent. It happens when the engine is warmed up to normal operating temp. , in gear , and under load……but not always . When it happens it looks like a fog machines is strapped to the bumper and the smoke sometimes enters the interior. There is a noticeable gasoline smell as well . When I pulled a sparkplug I notice fresh oil on the wire side but not the electrode.
The car is in the 200k mi range, survived hitting a deer at 70mph., a thrown crankshaft pulley , so many problems. It currently has a slight leak from the valve cover. I am wondering if this could be a bad seal on a spark plug tube/s and is that can be replaces with out taking the head off? Might be just wishful thinking on my part but I’d like to think the car is not dead.
