3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was wondering if anyone would have interest in Rear Center Panels that were wrapped in Carbon Fiber?
They would most likely be Gen3.5 because they could be wrapped without blocking the reverse lights, but i can see if we can wrap a Gen 3 one if that is preferred ...
Please vote in the poll, and reply with a price that you think would be good to sell (price would be without shipping included, shipping would have to be different for everyone depending on distance obviously)
Of course, these wouldnt be sold sight-unseen, if i decided to start doing this i would post up an example of one on my car ... and then see how many we can make and sell

a dead heat so far. sounds cool. just to clarify this is an OEM pannel that is covered in CF? just to clarify to thoes impulsive types, its not a CF piece. but damn it would look cool i think. its a great idea lenny.
correct, i would be buying up some OEM panels and covering them - they will be cf wrapped, not pure cf pieces ... its more of an aesthetic mod than a weight reduction mod, since the center panels dont really weigh that much

lip spoiler would be harder to wrap ... with the contours its difficult to manage since we use wet layup, and not vacuum bagging ... so its all done by hand kinda like how ive done fiberglass (since its basically the same)
im gonna ask Rdizzle how much he paid for his - and gonna talk to my buddy thats gonna be wrapping with me and see how hard it would be to wrap a Gen 3 panel with the cutouts for the reverse lights
as far as sending us your panels, that might be a good idea - ill have to see what works best, keep the poll going

get someone like carbon creations to whip some solid ones out like in the old days. Wrapped just kinda seems rice to me....though the whole concept of me saving a whole 9 ounces could be considered solidly rice
And i paid 220 for mine from good ol George

solid cf panels requires making molds, which jacks up the price ... rdizzle got his for $220 used solid, so it was $300+ new
i was hopin to charge half that (or less) for just a wrap as long as i can find out how to keep shipping costs down - gotta find boxes that size, which isnt easy

so the cutouts would be really difficult on the Gen 3 Panel ... but the options would be:
- Offer both panels, which means blocking the lights on the gen 3 (running a risk IMO)
- Offer Gen 3.5 panel wrapped only
what are your thoughts? i can try wrapping one of my gen 3 panels [i have a collection for those that dont know ] but id hate to waste CF since its like $20-25 per ft
also, as far as shipping - it would be fine once we get a sample made if people are still interested to have you guys ship your panels in ... however, ive shipped these panels before and you can ask eyeball96 - its impossible to find a container thats the right size, and if you get a container thats much too big it becomes expensive to pack & ship ... i can see about custom boxes from FedEx or UPS, but that might also be an expense
what do you guys think about like $100 + shipping?

i measured one of my spare Gen 3 SE panels, and it was about 37" x 7" x 3" - i found 40x8x8 boxes for $1 each, but i have to buy at least 25 ... but that might be the best option, even if i dont use all 25, i can include that in the cost of materials and the price wouldnt change really
so still probably ~100 + shipping, if that sounds like a good price to you guys - if not, lemme know a price range
