Question 2000 Camry Rear (Drum) Brake Replacement

Where can I find a pictorial guide for replacing the rear (drum) brake pads on a 2000 Camry?

Also where is the best source for a detail maintenance manual?

Thank for any help

For just replacing the pads, get a Heynes repair manual. At $15 or so, it is a good buy that will be useful for a lot of small jobs.

Check this out too, although it is more than what you are asking for, it has some pics etc. http://www.geocities.com/kocho_chestimenski/camry.html

Hi Kocho,

Thanks for the information, but I am seeking a maintenance manual that is more detailed than the Haynes or Chilton manuals. I am panning to accomplish heavier maintenance in the future.

Thanks Again,

The Toyota manuals are very detailed. $$$ from the dealership, cheaper at eBay. Not sure if there are aftermarket manuals that would be cheaper and go to the same level.

Not sure what you mean by "heavier maintenance" or what your experience is. The factory manuals would usually have LESS information on HOW to do the repairs , although they will give more information about parts, schematics, torque, etc.

So if you are looking for step by step instructions, the factory manuals won't have these.

Sorry - this is all the info I got...

Thumbs up Best Manual for the $

http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp?r=

You'll have to pay $100 - $150 for it, but this will get you the manual with (all) the details. Includes special tools with part nos., plus diagnostics, including root-cause analysis, etc.

I hope this helps.

Well, that was in 2003

I have since found that Toyota TIS (technical information service, I think) offers full access to all factory manuals at a dirt-cheap price of $10 a day over the net. One can download them all (fast connection and patience needed). I think it is something like $50 for a month access...
