the SE doesnt have the e153? i was under teh notion that the gen3 SE 4 door, MR2 and gen4 camrys all had that manual tranny, just different variations in the gearing.

in any case it should fit fine.

you'll need the axles as well, but that should be it

yup, 5-speed axles from the camry/solara with the e153

with the e53, it seems that the automatic axles also fit. but in the case of the e153, you NEED the 5-speed axles

Bumping an older thread. If a 93 3VZ SE 5-speed has the E53, and the only major difference is the cones, wouldn't a E153 LSD fit in? I know the only difference between the two is essentially that the E53 has less and weaker synchros but a longer final drive ratio.

The E53 has double and triple cone synchros just like the 93+ E153. Not sure where you guys heard otherwise. The E52 and the 1990-1992 E153 have the early synchro designs (i.e. double cones and single synchro 5th)

E53 (synchro)
1 3.538 (double)
2 2.045 (triple)
3 1.333 (triple)
4 1.028 (double)
5 0.820 (double)

Diff: 3.625

E153
1 3.230
2 1.913
3 1.258
4 0.918
5 0.731

Diff: 3.933 (Camry), 4.285 (MR2T)

You can make hybrid E53/E153s. Some of the 2GR MR2 guys run a 3.625 E153, for example.

You might have to use a custom half-shaft to use the E153 LSD, not sure, but V6 MR2 guys have ran the E53 and the E153 without issue.
