I need to replace the front door speaker in my 1992 Camry, and my question is do I need to remove the door panel to get to it, or can I just remove the speaker grill?

Here's a thread that deals with door handle replacemant, but it has great info and pics of door panel removal. It should help you get to the speakers.
Not to tread jack, but will a 6x9 drop right in the back or does that take a bit of trimming to fit?
It will require you to cut the metal, because the oem speakers have a 3 point mounting pattern. Aftermarket speakers of course have a 4 point mounting pattern. You could trim the metal, but you could save alot of time and effort if you just buy 6x9 adapters for the new speakers. That's what I did. The adapters needed a bit of trimming, and after that, it shouldn't take more than 15-20mins total for the install.
i need to get to them to access the db switch on them. it helps control the level of balance of the front and rear speakers.
???
Isn't that controlled from the stereo? Last time I went into the doors, I never saw any swtich that did that. I've always been able to control the front/rear balance (a.k.a. fade) right from the stereo, stock or otherwise.
