I am stumped! Clicking from Distributor, but acts like IAC is sticking.
Aloha everyone...
I just bought a camry with 95k miles on it. It is in great shape, BUT it doesn't want to start after sitting overnight or for more than let's say 8 hours. When it gets warmed up it starts up fine. ALSO what is weird... is that after towing the vehicle it started up after 2 cranks... and after pushing the vehicle down the street to park it... it started up after a couple cranks as well.
Its parked on a flat plane. It gets fuel. New wires, plugs, rotor, cap, air hose to TB.
NOW!! this is the kicker... So after reading the forum... I thought this exactly sounds like the IAC valve. an easy fix right? So, after cleaning the IAC Valve from the directions of an awesome post here on TN... It is still having the problem... BUT!!!... I dont know if I did not notice this before... but there is a clicking sound from the engine... AROUND the distributor.
I am not cranking the engine... Rather I turn the key to the ON position... I can hear the fuel pump engage and also a clicking noise. ALSO... sometimes after I try and start the car... turn it off... and then turn it back to the ON position the engine will slightly engage as if I am cranking it. The starter does NOT turn over, but the engine acts as if it is was on and dying out. It happens for 1 second and then shuts off. ALSO... when the key in turned to the ON position, while the engine is off, the rpms rev to about 500.
This is driving me krazy! I am thinking it is a bad DIS... Or bad Ignition Wires. But I am still kind of convinced that it is the IAC valve! AHHH!!
Can anyone out there help this Hawaiian with his problem?
Mahaloz! I hope I wrote enough to explain in detail the problem.
