Suspension??????? 98' Camry

Hey Mates,

Got a question for ya's. Lately when I slow down, the force of forward and back when motion when stopping, I get a creaking noise in the front end??? Now for specs. I have new (4 month) old Monroe Sensatrac Struts on the front. So obviously it couldn't be the shocks! BUT, and I caps that, I did not have Strut Mounts done, when I had the struts done. Is this the noise??? Is it a safety issue or will it just be noisy until I get them done. Any input would be appreciated.

Strut mount don't usually make squeaking noises, even when they are bad. They make knocking type noises when you go over bumps. The spring cushions/seats on the other hand might. Take a look around when the spring and the seat/cushion comes together, if there is a tear it would allow the spring to come in contact with the strut.

Hey thanks

It is not a squeaking noise, its like a creaking door opening, and now as a matter of fact this morning, I strated my car and went to do a uturn from a dead stop and it made the noise when I turned the wheel. WTF is it. I have new struts, the left tie rod is new. what could it be. The car is a 98' Camry with 165,000 miles. Is it just "OLD" age I am hearing so to speak or is something wrong?

Did you replace the upper strut bearing, it is between the upper strut mount and the upper spring seat?

It's possibly the sway bar end links. My Gen4 made the same noise when moving slowly and just turning the wheel slowly, I replaced the front two sway bar end links and it was fixed. Try testing it by opening the drivers or passengers side door and stand on the door sill and jump up and down trying to bounce the car at that point. You may hear the sound reproduced.
