3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am going to driving the camry for 2400 miles (one way) in a month or so. My car has tons of miles, but my question is: Is there a certain part that I should bring with me that is prone to failure? Like on my 92 accord, I just brought a distributor with me, never had to use it, but that is a part that goes out without warning on those. So does the camry 4 cylinder engine have a certain part that would be worth bringing a spare one with?
thanks

I always pack an extra Taurus lip in case my after burner light comes on. But seriously if you have an extra Taurus lip you could drop it off for me on your way through?
i always keep a set of tools in the car, quart of oil and trans fluids, and some coolent. oh, and a flash light. nothing sucks more than changing a tire by feel. no car parts needed for the camry.
1 GI Joe arm with Kung Fu grip. Preferably from Serpentor or Sgt Slaughter. (We all know what this is for) Darth Vader arm works in a pinch.
1 Oct 2008 issue of Maxim featuring Megan Fox (this compliments #1 nicely)
1 friendly hampster named "Toobie"
1 unfriendly racoon named "Bitey"
Should be good to go after that, unless you happen to have a George "The Animal" Steel or Captain Lou Albano figure, in which case you will be wanting some single edged razor blades, green food coloring, an assortment of brightly colored rubber bands, and a Hawaiian style Barbie doll shirt.
WOW that was quite a list! I know the basics, like bringing tools, fluids etc. I have made the trip many times in various other cars.
Just wanted to see if there was a certain part to carry with. (example, so I don't get any suggestions like "rebuilt engine, transmission, fenders, 6 sets of tires, crack pipe , bazooka, condoms for use at truck stops, laxatives, blinker fluid, throwing stars, etc....)
anything? is there a part inside the distributor that can fail with no symptoms?

Ive owned a 92 Accord as well, with over 200,000 miles on it. Never heard of the distributor going out without notice.
