Check Engine Light Follow Up

Below are the codes i pulled from the diagnostics, I brought the car to a local Toyota Dealership to check the voltage on my O2 sensor. Apparently my new exhaust, headers, CAI, were causing my fuel/air mixture to be too lean, although I've heard many people say that this wont cause that. The Toyota Servicemen said i need to recalibrate my ECU. Just a heads up for anyone who has already moded their car and gotten the same check engine light, or for anyone who is going to. good luck.

P1133:
Definition
Air/Fuel sensor circuit response
(bank 1 sensor 1)
Probably Causes
1 - Open or short circuit condition
2 - Poor electrical connection

P0171
OEM Brand: OBDII
The PCM has determined that during testing, the fuel system for bank 1 was too lean. (bank 1 identifies location of cylinder #1, while bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the opposite bank)

OEM Brand: Domestic
Fuel trim bank on condition
Explanation
The powertrain control module uses the oxygen sensor to calculate the air/fuel ratio of the engine.
The computer has recognized a rich or lean condition on one engine bank only.
Probably Causes
1 - If bank one and two codes set together suspect fuel pressure or MAF sensor
2 - Oxygen sensor defective
3 - Ignition misfire-repair
4 - Fuel Injector problem (I had my fuel injectors serviced 1 week ago at a toyota dealership)

Hey sorry for the late response.

So far I have yet to fix the problem, I have to at some point during the month as my inspection sticker expires at the end of January, and if my check engine light is on I will get the famous (R)acing sticker

As I said previously the toyota dealership told me that it was because of my CAI and my new headers, well... I thought that sounded funny so I called them and asked them what I could do, they said... "Recalibrate your ECU (emissions control unit), it’s real easy!"

I thought this was even stranger... I never heard of anyone recalibrating their car after such a relatively insignificant performance modification.

So I called a trusted mechanic (friend of the family) who had worked at that very toyota dealership, he said: "those guys are all liars and dirt bags, that is why I left, you cant recalibrate the ECU on that Camry, they are full of sh*t, they also probably didn’t check the voltage on your O2 sensor, a part which has been problematic for many Camry’s."

Sooo.. as soon as i replace that part, which should be next week, I will let you know immediately if it was indeed the cause of the light.

Sorry I can’t be of more help.

"Recalibrate your ECU," Did the dealership mean disconnect/reconnect your battery ground cable after 15 minutes or so? Food for thought that you could run by the family mechanic friend on top of checking the O2 sensor voltage!

Recalibrate the ECU? AH HAHAHHAHA! Never go back there please........Thats the 1st time I ever heard that. You can reset the ECU, not recalibrate it......

They meant recalibrate, I have reset it myself several times, and they...get this...told me to bring it to a "speed shop" because they couldn't recalibrate it at theirs.

What dealership is this out of curiosity?

They sound like they are incompetent morons. To "recalibrate" a Toyota ECU, you have to hack into it, and it;s one of the hardest ECU's to hack.

Here we go...

So! After I realized that the local toyota dealership was full of nimrods I decided to check the O2 sensor my self which I figured must be a waste of time since I SPECIFICALLY told them to check the voltage on it. Well clearly they never checked it as they said they did it was running at 2.0 ohms and was caked in black carbon. Clearly busted. So I replaced it, disconnected the battery for about half an hour AND.....the check engine light turned on again.

It is giving me the same codes again except for this one:

P0401

Anyone know what to do...?
