Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My Fri*cking Camry (1993 6cyl) is leaking gas on the neck of the pipe when I top it off.
I haven't noticed it before or smelled it, but gas was down yesterday so I squeezed every drop in the tank, and I took a peek underneath and right at the curve near the gas cap it was leaking.
Brought it to my buddy mechanic and sure enough he says you have to replace the " fill pipe". .......call the dealer $209 canadian plus tax plus labour. Its an old car, don't want to spend too much on it.
I'm trying to find a way around this, a friend told me that you can buy this product "seal all" , like a glue that hardens up when it comes in contact with gas.....
I called a few wreckers they didn't have the part......
There is a thread somewhere about this... You can do the replacement your self, but I choose to have a independant shop do it for me. I paid about $200 installed.

Where did you get it done in TO for 200? I'm also in TO......
That's a really good price [that's the whole assembly to the tank?] and if shipping is nominal to up here, worth considering. Up here the part will run you I think $225 or there abouts and is unfortunately a dealer only part I found out when looking to replace mine. Pretty straight forward how to put it in though so should be easy enough to do it yourself.
I recently had issues with mine when topping up it would piss out gas. The cause is that the entire piping to the tank is totally unprotected so highly prone to rusting. [which is why forget getting it from the wreckers] My breather pipe totally went tank end, due to the fact that it's smaller. Ended up cutting out the bad part because when having the end redone, [the upper part near the attaching bracket cracked open along the top after the 'fix' as well], and replacing it with gas line hose and clamping it fixed the issue for now. The filling side of it will sooner or later have to be replaced too. The bracket that is attached to both lines that attaches to the car frame when moved can cause either lines to get cracks in so if you're working around it be very careful. The more you move it the worse your problems will get. There are different solutions to 'fix' for the interim but would only go full replacment for a proper solution. Upon doing so, would DEFINITELY coat the thing before having it put in so it rusting won't be a future issue.
If you are interested in a used alternative, I am parting out a 1992 4 cylinder LE Camry thats spent its entire life in Georgia, absolutely no rust. I'll sell the neck assembly for $50.00 US plus shipping. PM me if you are interested or desire pictures. Neck is still installed in car.
