Not really sure how to approac this problem: First, my passenger side front door window motor went out.....then the outerhandle snapped off due to some careless door-opening....then the whole damn handle collapsed in on the door......
The door WILL unlock and lock from the inside by power, but not by key from the outside....and the door will not open. Lifting the handle just gets a numb result.
Any ideas? Pretty sure I'm just gonna visit a Pull-A-Part and get a whole new door, but i can't even get the damn thing open.
Sounds like you need two things, both of which you can get on eBay. The window motor you can find by searching for "window regulator". Most of 'em I've seen come with the motor. Ah, here's a used one for $30... eBay regulator. You could just swap out the motor if you don't wanna go to the trouble of replacing the whole assembly.
The door outer handle can be had for about $15. Most of 'em are unpainted (black), ready for painting, but if you're patient, you can find one that's painted to match your color. Here's one that's unpainted... eBay door handle. I bought a green painted one a while back; no complaints. It looks every bit as good as the OEM part.

Whups, forgot to answer your question; how to get the door open. The handle fell in, eh?... and the interior handle won't work either? With the outer handle falling inside, things could be pretty tangled up, but try this:
Look into the hole where the outer handle was. There should be a steel rod about a quarter-inch in diameter oriented vertically. If I recall correctly, you need to push down on it (might have to lift up instead, it's been awhile since I had mine apart).

Your outside door handle has imploded inside the door? Thats a tough one to do as there are the two mounting tabs with holes behind handle inside the door that bolt to your door handle and would prevent the handle from falling in. If the outside handle is missing, look in the opening and locate a rod that runs front to back inside the door. Stick your hand thru the door opening, grasp the rod and move it forward to open the door.
Thanks for all the suggestions, guys....I've tried tugging the three exposed rods that can see in the empty handle hole from the outside, but none of them seem to budge, except for the one which locks the doors....
I'll try poking around again, but it's looking like I may have to cut this one off to get a new one on.

start cutting from the top, at least above the window/ lock switch, from there down to the speaker there is a web of wirring for window actulator, door lock relay, power mirror, dom light and speaker...
See if you can locate the remnants of your door handle inside the door. As this is your front door, you have three bolts running into the back of your outside handle. Two of the bolts are simply mounting bolts and correspond to the two mounting tabs in the recess where the handle is mounted. The third bolt attaches the lock or door open rod to the handle. Try fishing the handle out and freeing up that rod from the back of the handle using a 10mm socket. The other rod simply pushes into a hole and is held with a safety retainer. The right combination of rod movements should open your door, assuming the only damage was to your exterior handle. If it doesnt work, you have multiple failures inside the door. I just finished a rebuild of a 96 camry to include all front sheet metal, doors, door handles, all rubber and all trim. The door should open easily with the exterior handle removed provided the rest of the door is still intact. What area of Atlanta do you live? I'm south by Peachtree City.
