Car Only Starts After Re-connecting Battery

Been having a weird problem lately...

Every now and then, after I try to start my car after it's been sitting for a while, it won't start. At that point, in order to get it to start, I have to disconnect the battery and reconnect it.

It seems to only happen if I push the brake while turning the ignition.

I know it's not the battery because I just put in a brand new one ant the beginning of summer this year.

Any idea as to what might be happening?

I had a similar problem with my old Camry. It was because of a less than good connection with the battery, interestingly enough.

It would click and nothing, but I still had all electrical equipment working in the car, it just wouldn't start.

I had to get out, push on the left terminal with my snow broom while I start it with the remote, and it was fine after that. I cleaned my poles and connectors enough that I wouldn't mind using them as kitchen ware and it solved the problem.

I second cleaning the battery wires and terminals. Here is a guide: http://www.howtocleanstuff.net/auto/...ery-terminals/

Operating all your electrical equipment is nothing compared to trying to start the car. It takes some 400A/h to start your car so if the contacts are dirty, it can impede the current flow. All the electrical equipment on your car probably takes less than 100A to operate continuously.

As noted, the most likely cause is a dirty connection. Also consider an internal problem with the battery cable as well as the fact that even though the battery is new, it may still have an internal problem.
