Question help with a stuck starter

hi all,
I have a 98 camry v6 which had a leaking clutch accumulator. i thought it would be easy to remove the battery, cruise and starter to replace the accumulator.
all was going well until I got to the starter. I removed the two wiring connectors on it, and the 2 bolts holding it to the crankcase, but when I tried to the starter it wouldn’t budge. Me being stupid I began to bang on it, try to wedge it out with a cold chisel etc, and eventually broke the piece of the starter housing that goes into the engine off.

Well now I need to get that piece out to put my new starter in, anyone have any suggestions? I can post oickjs if that helps describe the CF I am in.

thanks

sorry for the delay, but here is a small pic of whats left of the starter.

[img][/img]

I've been squirting cans of pb whatever at it, but no luck so...
my plan is to make a plate that looks like this

and drill and tap 4 small (8-32 ish) holes in whats left of the starter, run in 8-32 bolts through the plate i made and into the starter piece, take 2 pieces of 10mm allthread run them into the block tight with a lock nut, then use a second nut and back teh plate away from the block. hopefully that make sense, but i dont know if its the right thing to do. any other suggestions? My inlaw (outlaw) said MAPP gas... i was thinking of that as a last resort.

any help would be awesome

wow...how the hell did that happen??? lol

as for how to get it out...your idea is a pretty good one...or you can just try torching it and then pulling it out that way since it seems to be seized. the torching should get it free

hmm

Wow. Gotta say in nearly 15 years of turning wrenches I have never seen that before. Torch is a good idea as long as it is a cutting torch you could slowly melt away the aluminum. Um wait the block is aluminum as well. This could be bad...........Got an air chisel by chance? Maybe a dremel or die grinder with a carbide bit? I guess I would try to cut a slot through it kinda like cutting a pop can from top to bottom. Then hammer the rim to get it to collapse a bit. Or you could cut a notch in the rim of what is left sticking out and try to get it to dislodge with a hammer and punch. Tough spot. I fell your pain.

Try some CLR, put some between the mating surface of the bellhousing and what is left of the starter, let it soak over night. Otherwise, try some Muriatic acid, (Hydrochloric acid) this is heavy duty stuff though, use with CARE, it will burnt your skin if not handle properly.
