3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Here's a question... The A/C control inside by the dash on my car has the turn knobs to control temperature etc.. I went to a junk yard and I noticed one of the camrys had a nicer push button design. It obviously came with the newer ones since mines a 92, or maybe just the XLE I'm not sure. But my question of course is are the rear wiring connections for my car compatible with the newer one? And has anyone ever done this before?

If I say that it's not compatible and it still has the 2 knobs in good condition, can you grab them and send them to me? I REALLY need those 2 knobs!!!
For the love of humanity, PLEASE send me the knobs!
But seriously, I think it has different connections. You'd have to change out more than just the panel. As you can see in my sig, I have both types, so Im pretty sure they are not compatible.

The two panels are not interchangable. The "push button" style panel uses relays and servo motors to control the functions of the "missing" knob, and vent lever. You would have to get all the relays, servos motors, wire harnesses, brackes, and so on to install that panel in your car.
It is a nice control panel, but it's not worth all the parts, and work IMO.

Well I kinda figured it would't work but I didn't think it'd be that hard to swap em. Oh well. And xtremeskier97, just head to a junkyard man like I do. Whenever I pull dash stuff out they practically charge me nothing for them.

I have. Ive been to all 5 yards around me and none ever have those 2 knobs I need. If you do go back and see them, could you grab them for me? I live in NW Louisiana, so it wouldnt be far to ship.
