4th Generation SC noise and vibration fixed

Nothing big but just want to share my experience fixing my AC noise and vibration problems.

Ever since I installed TRD supercharger, my car vibrated much more than before and when AC kicked in, there was a noise and more vibration. After some investigation, I think the SC belt tensioner may be the problem since it moved much more when AC in on than off. So I ordered new tensioner and belt and a new idler pulley for tensioner. Yesterday I spend one hour to replace them and after that the noise is gone. New tensioner is not moving that much than the old one so it's obvious that old tensioner is going bad.

I also found that I over torque the dogbone bolt causing excessive vibration when AC kicked in. Since I retorqued it, no more annoying vibration when AC is on, only one or two seconds then back to normal. The car still vibrates a little bit more before I installed SC but it's not too bad.

BTW, I also fixed P0401 CEL. It's bad VSV. That VSV looks good when I test it but it actually didn't open up enough to allow enough vacuum to pass. This again proved the VSV may look good when test it but it's actually failed.

Toyota will take a long long time to find the parts for you depending on how good your parts ppl are....it took my local dealership 4months to track down the part numbers for one of the smooth pullies for me...and it ended up being a dayco one anyway...

so, here are the dayco part numbers- you can either find a local distributor that carries dayco parts, or order them from somewhere online. Not sure which one is easier for you in denmark.

89007 = Smooth idler pulley w/o flange
89009 = 6-groove" idler pulley
89203 = Belt-Tensioner

For the belt-tensioner there, it will come with a different pulley on it. You can either reuse your old one on it, or you can buy a new smooth idler pulley and slap that one one.

Dayco also carries the belts. The best ones for our application are the polycog belts.

The stock belt size is supposed to be 89.5", so the part number for that would beayco Poly-Cog 5060895

For the ppl who don't have a tensioner and has the old belt setup, the belt size is supposed to be 88", so that part number would be 5060880

I hope that helps

hope you have better luck with your tensioner. my was wasted after 2 days.... but yeah from my gen4 to gen 3 the new(even busted)tensioner was MUCH smoother and quieter. id honestly rather have the old idler system without the tensioner.
