just got obx headers installed, took forever cause of fitment
i just recieved my obx headers for my 2000 camry and god it took forever. the gasket for the end of downpipe to my exhaust pipe was too small so i got a bigger gasket ( a bit too big ) inbetween them. the mount on the downpipe would not fit onto the obx downpipe so i just removed it. the other mount closest to the header would not fit around the downpipe so i had to stretch it out a bit more and use longer bolts to hold em. in the end, the pipe was pretty tight so i guess its ok now. after installation, goddam..my car became too loud. weapon-r intake + obx header w/ downpipe + trd exhaust = too loud. going 2500 rpm on freeway and it annoys the shit out of me. but i guess im stuck with it now. just wanted people to know if they was going to get this header. oh yeah and the header would not fit on directly, i had to takeout the spinning circle thingy that was connected to my engine to put on the header then bolt the circle thing back on
i found out the downpipe had no catalyst converter and im expecting to see a check engine light soon, when i get it will the CEL limit my car or would it be just normal as usual? how soon will i be able to see this CEL? will these header with my weapon r intake pass smog?
***from what i been told by the inspectors in my state(TX)***
you need to have the same number of cats as came on the car originally. and the same 02 sensors etc etc... add one in and from what i know you should be ok

Hey, just a couple of questions- what engine do you have? the 4cylinder, or the v6? because you keep saying downpipe and not y-pipe....
as for removing the circle thingy that spins with the engine...what is that?? I can't think of anything that spins with the engine that would need to be removed for a header install unless it's the half-shaft on a v6
as for fitment, that's not too bad actually, as there have been worse horror stories where the piping had to be cut- the need for longer bolts and different gaskets are small things- glad that you figured it out though
sorry to sidetrack the thread... but i think those v6 headers and y pipe look pretty sick as long as they'd be able to hold up... great price. i'd worry about fitment with an auto tranny maybe though...

yeah, they look amazing for the price- the seem to be exact jpp relicas with the only difference being the resonator in place of a cat, presumable to save money on production
and good to see you around again, zoni

they sure as hell look better then the set i got. the design is the same but the bend in the Y pipe is more a few angled pieces of tubing put to gether to make a curve, then it is a bend. but thats for the gen3.
well after a day of driving the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on lol.
my car is 4cyl not the v6.
and the spinny thingy i was talking about moves the belt around o_o; (sorry im so noobish with cars)
and the spinny thing that moves the belt around....the alternator? lol...it's got to be something around the front area that can get in the way of the install....
as for the CEL...yeah...that would be your lack of a cat where there should be one

it could cause your engine to run leaner, causing the CEL. Plus, you said your vehicle was for California emissions, right? They had a warm-up three way converter right off the header to help with emissions, so that may be your issue, i'm not sure what you can do to remedy that.
