3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Well first let me say the car when I first got it didn't have the airbag light illuminated... and it hasn't been wrecked ect... I'v done all the seals on both sides of the motor and all the belts... is there a plug under the hood I unplugged probably?
I want to get this fixed ASAP since my girl drives this car 45 miles a day

An OBD scanner won't work for the airbag. There is a way to retrieve the code by count the number of blinks of the SRS light after jumping the E1 and TC terminals in the DLC1 connector in the engine compartment, however, I cannot be 100% sure if those are the terminals.
What I would ask too is did you do anything to any of the wiring in the car?
I did to mine which caused it to fry the control module. I had a problem with my stereo/antenna and somehow tripped the light on. There's a way of clearing the light on it, [ http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t16839.html ] but when we tried we got a 134 code I think it was? or something. Midnightmach knows. Anyways, I ended up having to get a new one. Once we put it in, we tried again. After a couple tries we were able to clear it. When it actually clears the code, then it'll blink fairly fast then stop and all is well again.
In case you need to replace the control module though, it is located underneath the middle console on the back end of it.
Definitely see what your code your getting though if it won't clear.

I did install a Sony Mp3 CD player the 2nd day we had the car... that might have been it.. although the radio and antenna have been working just fine and I believe I had power off when doing it..
whats the right way to read the code with the blinking on the dash.. I have looked at alldata and they are showing engine codes and such not the SRS system

Ah, the one who doesn't replace the trans drain plug gasket!
Anyway, count the number of blinks of the airbag light and look for the pause in between, they are usually two number codes; in other words, if it is a 43, it will blink four times short pause and blink three more times, then a slightly longer pause before it blinks out the next code if any. It will repeat itself after it has been through all the codes.

Hey, like I said to the others, it is your car, you can do whatever you like. However, on a forum like this, I just try to make suggestion that would minimize any future complication.
The one under the hood would be easier to get to, the terminal are the ones above.
