No air through center vents?

The two vents in the center of the dash of my 96 camry do not have any airflow..the side vents flow fine, but they're the only ones that work.

I have no idea why, I only found out about this when I turned up the AC to high, since I never check/feel much when its on low.

Is there anything that could be obstructing the airflow? Is it possible to fix?

Unless something fell inside the duct to block the air flow, the center vent and the side vents share the same duct work. The side vents, are you referring to the ones that point to the cabin? Shine a light into the center vents and see if you can see obstruction in there.

There is a system of "doors" that open and shut to direct the air flow from the floor to defrost, dashboard, etc. It sounds like something has gone wrong in your system.

I'm with NEO that usually the side and middle vents act together. But I think it requires a combination of "doors" working in conjunction with each other. If only one failed it might result in only the center vent problem.

Not sure but thought I'd mention it.

i had this same problem.
there are 2 types of systems. a lever and a push button type. if you have the knobs that control where the air flows then you have the lever type.
what happened with mine was air was coming only from the defrosters and the outer 2 vents. behind the dash on the driver's side there is an outlet motor with a rod connected to it that hooks to the door for the center vents. the piece that connected the rod to the door broke so my vents were left in the defrost position. look under there and play with the mode selector switch to see if the rod is still on the motor and the door.

I have a similar problem to the one described. I have a 94 but the push button type that controls the air flow. The fix you describe does not specify if it is for the models that have the knob or the push button. Or does it not matter?

both have an outlet motor. may be in different locations, but if that is the problem then to fix it would be similar.

search man. xtremeskier97 had this problem and has the push button type. posted a nice thread about it.

xtremeskier97, could you post the link to your thread for him? i think it might be the only way to get him to look at it.
