3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I just bout a solara 1999, but it doesnt have the key remote control. And I bought one on Ebay from Ikeyless. But I dont know how to install it, even though they show me to locate the ECU box. I found it but there's no button as the direction show. Could somebody help me with that? thank you so much !
It isn't exactly a button, there is a hole off to the right side of the ECU, use a small pin to push the button that is inside. If you look though the hole, you should be able to see a green button in there, that is what the instruction is referring to. Then follow the procedure.
I too am in a similiar situation. I have a 99 Camry LE. Could you tell me where the ECU unit was on your car. I couldnt find me yet. Only place left in above the glove box and that isnt coming off easily.
Are you positive that you have a RS3000 on your car? Some of the Camry has remote keyless entry from the factory, that requires a different programing procedure, which is performed with a jumper wire at the mirror switch.
Nope not there, had been to the dealer on friday and he confirmed that i had a RS3000 VIP unit installed and would give the FOB and program it for 205$..
He mentioned something about it being a port installed unit. Didnt explain what he meant. Any idea what he meant?
If it was port installed, that would have been the location that Toyota had specified. Port installed means that the car doesn't have the system when it left the assembly plant and the alarm system was added to it when it arrived in the US port of entry.
No offense, but do you happen to know how the ECU looks like?
