so um its 4 in the morning right now and ive decided that when i wake up i want to debadge. i already used the search button.. anyways..i know that on the gen 3 all of the trunk badges have peg holes. im wondering if anybody can guide me on how to fill em up and make it look as if they never exsisted.
im more worried about the paint...if i get duplicolor paint how well will it blend with the surrounding oem paint?
and what about the fill/sanding process?
I just want to get it right the first time so I dont fuck up and do it again.
thanks
You could always plaster, "I brake for cheeseburgers" bumper stickers all over the holes. Joking. You wrote that you wanted to do it right. Unfortunately this is the expensive route. I would weld the holes shut, grind the lid down to bare metal, have the lid skim coated, primered, painted, and cleared professionally.
No? didn't think so. The biggest problem you are going to have is paint matching. Unless your car is black or you have the paint computer matched your chances of a good match are slim. Secondly rattle-canning is never the correct way. (if that was your intention) Always turns out looking like crap. I guess if a professional paint job is out of the question you could always leave the paint alone, try to fill the holes in from the backside using as little filler as possible. Sand the filler that is exposed through the hole very carefully as to not scratch the surrounding paint and use touch-up paint to cover only the tiny filler spot. This will probably look okay and will likely only be noticeable upon very close inspection, if done correctly.

You can't get to the holes from the backside.

Some are, some aren't. We had a thread on this like 2 years back, and we could not figure which cars came with and without pegs. some US had them, some didn't, same for Jap.
