upgrading a 3VZ-FE

Hi everyone,

this was intended as a private message for Toysrme since I learned from reading this and other forums that he is an expert on 3VZ-FE engines.
Unfortunately I could not send this private message to him. So I post it here - and maybe there ar some other people, too, who can help me out! Thanks already in advance!

Here is the original message:

Hi there,

I am sorry to bother you, but from web research I learned that you are some kind of guru when it comes to Toyotas 3VZ-FE engine.

It would really be great if you can answer me some questions - Thanks a lot already in advance!

I am rebuilding a 3VZ-FE engine at the moment as a spare time project and I heard that it is wise to upgrade three things if you want to tune this engine:
- headgaskets
- headbolts
- pistons

I already searched the web, but I did not really find suppliers for stronger versions of these parts for the 3VZ-FE. So my first question is simple: Can you recommend special brands/products to replace the three stock items mentioned above? And do you know a webstore or something where I can order them?

The second question is: is there a stroker kit for the 3VZ-FE?

Thanks a lot for answers!

Regards,
deepsun (Andie)

unless u boost it gonna cost you tons of money, im goin all motor just because i have the resources to do that but for more power you gonna need to do your y-pipe to get any noticable power or throttle response difference. also advancing your timing will get a little more power out of the car. you gotta do tons of research mann its a great motor but just a lot of smart tuning instead of bpu's. i plan to get 260 whp out of my all motor setup but im using some 5vz parts and some other goodies ive discovered . also look into a smt6 or 7 tuning module. to much more things to type. like i said mann research research research research!!!!!!!

@n3rdifed:
Thanks for the advice, I am going to post there as well. However, I read that Toysrme is very much in favor of the 3VZ-FE (in his Camry) and knows tons of stuff about this engine....

@dresev6:
I already did a lot of research and I am going to go Turbo. I also found out during research that the 3VZ-FE block, crank as well as the rods are pretty strong and that the only things you should strengthen if you want to turbo this engine are:
- the headgasket (e.g. one with copper layer or something)
- the headbolts
- the pistons
So now I am just looking for some companies that make these parts. I know they exist because I read that people had swapped in stronger parts. Unfortunately I have no idea where they bought their stuff.

Are you intending on doing any of the FreeModSeries or anything like that? I would do that before dropping any big money into the 3vz.
