does anyone have pics of a retro in a frosted lens? like gen 3.5 stock headlights
i googled and searched hidplanet w/ no luck, maybe im not using the right words?
well... im planning on doing a tsx retro on my 07... figured i could buy a extra set of gen 3.5 headlights and try it out since theyre cheap anyways
and i cant see s*^& at night with these halogens
this will be my FIRST TIME EVER messing with this retrofitting stuff, seems like a fun project... to me atleast
i have a lot of free time this semester, so hey why not?
wait... so its $85+shipping for the clear lens only?
im trying to keep this project as cheap as possible, right now i just want better lighting for my gen 3.5 ITS SO HORRIBLE
i might even put the gen 6 projectors in there(since theyll be laying around after the tsx retro) but im thinkin about putting in the rx330 projectors if the light is still decent with the frosted lens
of course, but i want to see what it would look like with frosted lens before i go out and waste money
if the output is still decent, then ill go with the plan, if not then ill forget about doing anything to the gen3.5 headlights
Projectors + Stock lenses = bad idea....
not only will you blind other drivers, light output will be horrible.
It would be like... shooting a stream of water at a screen door, compared to say, a chain-link fence. Which one do you think is gonna let more water through, and allow it to keep a good stream?
My point - its gonna be a watery mess.

This brother in Toronto used frosted gen 3.0 (not 3.5) len for his retrofit. A good way to cover the flaw, but I dont even think he really like it though.
yup...I'm not too sure how the beampattern came out on henry's (silverstreak) setup since he stuck with halogen bulbs (they were a set of aftermarket accord halogen projectors), but I don't remember him complaining either
what I do know though, is that tony's first retrofit, and also his retrofit that he did for Jeff's spectrabluecam were done with the stock lenses. they both had hids though- tony's were d2s' since he said that they were hid projectors, but I'm not sure about the sbc's setup. But regardless, their beam patterns were just fine with pretty much no scattering of light- no glare for sure. I've driven with and against both of them, and their lights were just fine.
in the end, tony cleared his lenses himself (before the depos came out) to show some bling and to get that final 100% clean output
in the OP's case, I would say- just retrofit them. it might take a little while anyway. then, when you get the money, take off the stock lenses and replace them with the clear ones.

here. can't find the front pics but ask hamsterman. this is his former sick ass camry. btw. i am almost done on my retrofit. lol. gen 3.5 stock headlight.
What do you mean by frosted lens? Frosting the lens on a headlamp is counterproductive.
Edit, I just realized you were talking about those ridges.
Those ridges are there to point or bend the light from the halogen to output the desired beam pattern that is coming out of the bulb and coming off the reflector. Newer cars with clear polycarbonate lens use the multifaceted reflector to accomplish the same thing with better efficiency.
It's probably not a good idea to put HIDs behind the glass optics like that.
