3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Managed to destroy the entire left side on my wife's beloved 2000 V6, 5 speed LE Camry.
Is a rare jewel with leather and a moon roof. Still drives fine but insurance totaled it because the repair cost is more than the vehicle value. Low mileage (74,000), Light colored, V6, 5 speeds with leather and a moon roof are rare as hen's teeth.
Question is, how do I search for and/or find a replacement??
Kept the car and am going to have it repaired. New bumper cover, aftermarket front fender, used doors, and new OEM rear quarter panel. Should come out OK.
Believe it or not, this is the best time to kit tha car out, since u will have to do a bunch of body repair and new paintjob anyways. That's how it happened to me and made me decide to "go all the way" with my cam ^^ BTW, pics please ...
Have a new fog lamp on order. Is an OEM fog lamp kit. Managed to find the missing RH bezel in my SIL's garbage. Had thrown it away never imaging that it was made of "unobtainium". Is missing the bottom molded-in "U" clips but is salvageable.
The body shop did good although it isn't perfect. Body gaps at hood and trunk are a tiny bit wider than original and top of rear door is a smidgen high. But, considering the circumstances I'm happy.
Ticket for the body shop was $3,105. Also spent about $60 for a new rear view mirror and another $43.84 for a four wheel alignment. Fog lamps were $135. Insurance paid $6,400 so I cleared about $3,000 on the deal. Do not recommend this as a way to make money.
Received my 2000 Camry Fog Lamp Kit (P.N. PT297-33000). Found out some interesting info as follows.
There is a RH and LH fog lamp. Only difference I can see is the location for the electrical connections which are mirror images.
Kit does not contain the bottom clamp for the lamp mounting brackets. The clamps are different for Japanese and Kentucky manufactured cars. Clamps are labeled RH & LH although I'm not sure why.
Kit also includes the wiring harness, fog lamp relay, and relay mounting bracket but does not include the dash switch. If the car has ATC (automatic traction control) a different switch mounts in the console instead of the dash.
Kit does not include the fog lamp bezels.
It does include complete instruction for installation and aiming the lamps.
All I really need is the RH fog lamp so will have the rest left over. Will have to decide whether to keep them for spares or sell them.
Will be after Christmas before I get the new RH fog lamp and repainted bezels installed. Then "after crash" restoration will be complete.
i talked ot gary smith (toyotapartsman) at the jacksonvile depot he said there were 5 left but unfortunately the brackets for the tmmk built cars are discontinued and he said only a few tmc brackets left nation wide. heres the response i got back
