The Gen 3 Curse Returns?

so ... driving ~40mph down a back road on the way to dinner tonight ... for some reason, still unknown to me, my car decided to lose traction in the drizzle today and do some SWEET dorifto action at an almost-90* angle right off the road

jumped off the edge of the road, caught air ... slammed down into a ditch, and slid ON to 3 trees ... yeah, not into ... ON to ... trees smashed up my driver side front & rear doors pretty bad, took out the driver's side mirror, and was holding the car up in the air so i couldnt drive anywhere (open diff FWD ftl)

this pretty much sucks ... the good news is my engine is in perfect condition still, and the k-sports survived the mayhem with ease ... the bad news is, i need to replace both doors on the driver side & that side mirror ... idk what to do about insurance, they cant see the k-sports because GEICO doesnt like modifications, even if its got nothin to do with the accident ... and i am 20, so it will kill my insurance rates, especially just for 2 doors and a mirror ... frame looks okay, so i dont think they would total it but idk

pics will be up shortly....

oh yeah, and im okay - had to slide out the pass. door and all, but drove the car back to my friends house and went to dinner ... now im back ... kinda not lookin forward to driving home because i think i tore up the underside (looks like just frame rails & exhaust, no serious dmg) ... but my door is bent half-open so its gonna be wind & noise central on the way home

oh man- glad to hear that you're okay though

and also glad to hear that you could still drive the car, which means that it's usually still fixable. I was so happy that my car still ran just fine after my accident when my gf remote started it while it was hooked up in the air on the tow truck lol.

keep us posted- good thing there are plenty of body parts out there for our cars

oof...the bottoms of the doorjam may need a bit of bashing to get straight- but with a new door and plastic trim, it shouldn't be that noticeable

Good thing you're okay man. That is some serious bad luck but you didn't hurt yourself or anyone else so that's a good thing.

Looks like its just the doors. Just junkyard them and paint, hope you get it fixed soon!

As been said, could have been a hell of a lot worse. Wouldn't bother with going through insurance though if you can. Not worth it for them to jack up your rates. Just hit the local wreckers for what you need, and with a bit of luck you'll get the same colour as well so they won't have to be repainted.

Maybe time for some new tires? The ones I had [and still had tread life left] slipped a lot in those kinds of conditions and had a couple close calls. New tires and all is good for traction.

Bottom line is you walked away ok. Cars can be replaced or fixed, people not so much.
