I was not joking, the throttle valve cable, TV cable, tell the transmission how much you are into the throttle so it will know when to shift. If it is disconnected or mis-adjusted, it will either shift too early or too late, and may be no kick down. It is mounting onto the throttle body. Follow the cables attach to the throttle body, the one that goes down to the transmission is the one that you are looking for. If you can find a manual and follow the instruction to adjust it; the little metal collar on the cable should barely show pass the rubber boot, 0 to 1 mm.

If that is the one that goes down to the transmission, and have two nuts that retains it to the throttle body. You adjust it at the throttle body.

If you post a pict, that would be good.

Try and see if this link will help you: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh...d.php?p=485045.

However, you aim is to try and get the shift points just right to improve your fuel mileage.

Light throttle: 1-> 2 about 12 to 15mph; 2->3 about 23-25mph, and so forth; once you get 1->2, and 2->3, the others should be about right.

yes yhat helped tremendously, i went outside just now and adjusted it. it seems to be much better and ill have to mess with it a little more tomorrow. so just a quick question? if i want the car to accelerate quickly then i move the nut close to the end of the rubber boot then close the gap with other nut. am i correct?

Look at the little metal collar on the cable, if you want to shift into higher gears sooner, show less of the collar, if you want to shift later, show a little more of the collar. The shift points I had listed above would be a god starting point to adjust to. You want fuel mileage, you want to shift a little sooner, but not too soon, otherwise, the car doesn't want to move out of its own way.
