Primary coil resistance and misfire

I've got a sputtering '94 5SFE. It sounds and feels like it's down a cylinder, vibrating badly at idle and rough acceleration. The problem started suddenly two days ago.

I've found a few interesting things, but none of which I think would SUDDENLY case this problem to start
1) cylinder compression is on the high side 200+ psi with throttle open.
2) Charred points and rotor.
3) Slightly eroded plug electrodes.
4) Secondary coil resistance good, but primary is fluctuating between 0.9 and 0.6 ohms. Spec is something like 0.3 to 0.55. Coils are darned expensive to just replace. Is this resistance enough to cause a severe misfire? V=IR, so if R is double the specification, I guess primary coil voltage could be reduced by half, causing secondary voltage to be reduced much more. Does this make sense?

Thanks.

It probably is your coil, and they're not that expensive. I replaced mine 2 years ago for $35 from Advance Auto Parts.

EDIT: OK, so they doubled in price over the past 2 years and are now $60, but that's still not expensive.

Problem solved:

Changing the coil did nothing. Infact, the new coil was the same resistance on the primary circuit as the old one. The problem turned out to be a bad spark plug. New NGK plugs from NAPA fixed the misfire.
