4th Generation Hard Steering in 1998 Camry XLE V6

Hello All,

The steering my 98 Camry XLE V6 has gotten a bit hard(i can feel it in slow speeds). Its not as super smooth as before. I can see the power assist getting a bit low. I checked the power steering fluid level and it was full to the max. Can anyone tell me the reason why my steering has got slightly harder. Also the steering pulls slightly to the right.

And yeah, another thing that might help is my tires are almost worn out(they may last another 3k miles or so).

Please help me as to what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance!!

If the belt is properly adjusted, and the fluid seem to be flowing. It is possible that you need a steering rack. Check the system pressure. If the pressure is good, there is only the rack left that may cause your problem.

It could be your power steering pump. Especially if you are hearing a whining sound from your power steering pump when you are turning at low speeds [eg. parking]. There could be air in the system. Check the steering rack and the pump for possible leaks. You may also want to check your power steering belt.

What's the matter...
you answered your own question...
the tyres are worn out and the alignment is out...

All the above does is overload the steering..
