Exhaust Issues?

I live in the northeast, meaning my car under body gets bathed in salt during the winters. It could be my imagination, but I thought i hear intermittant random sounds from under my hood. The engine runs fine, I think the sounds are coming from the exhaust. Considering nothing exhaust wise has been replaced on the car through just about 17 years of orignal equipment, im wondering where are the places most prone to holes, seperations, etc. Where should I be looking closely at, the manifold? where else?

The flex pipes are really prone to rusting through around here and just ahead of the welds for the flanges to attach the cat on the pipes like to rust as well due to our salt use in the winters.
