Bad motor mount kills good one?

I just put in a new dog bone motor mount on my 5sfe 3 months ago and I just looked at it yesterday after 3 months and it is starting to tear. Would that be signs of another bad mount and where would it be. Is it that big ass boot looking mount on the bottom of the frame right under the exhaust manifold. Help?

Manual or automatic?

Leave the hood open, put the trans in gear and give it a little gas, see which way the engine tilts up when in drive. Try it again in reverse.

Usually when the front mount goes out, the engine will tilt up in drive, and vise versa for reverse. Most often is the front since the rear is compressed most of the time and the front is stretching underload.

Just be sure to hold firmly on the brakes when you give it gas.
