92 camry parts and help for a newbie!

Hello there. I just bought our first toyota for my son who just got his license. Anyways, it is a 1992 Camry XLE that is a kinda tan/gold color. Anyhow, it was a cheapie..but runs great. I am in need of some parts and help and have searched all over the internet.Maybe you can help.

Need a piece of door trim for the front drivers door. The body color piece that goes down the door horizontally...

The stock radio was taken out at one time and thrown in the trunk. Guy took his sterio out when he sold it..so there is a big hole there and a bunch of wires. Wanted to reinstall the factory unit in, just for noise, but I am missing the metal brackets on the sides of the radio, and the plugs for the back of the radio...wires are all cut in dash.

Lastly, the brights wont work unless you hold the turn signal lever back and hold it there. Bad switch I guess.. Anyone know how I could just run a wire from a switch to a relay or something so he could just flip a toggle for brights?

Thanks in advance for ANY help or suggestions you may have. Thanks alot!

Congratulations on purchasing your first '92 camry-XLE.....sweet. I have 4 V-6 LE's. Anyway, about your headlights. High beams are turned on by pushing the lever away from you. They also turn on high beam when you pull it toward you, as you mentioned. This is used to warn the other driver while passing another vehicle. You mentioned needing a piece of door trim and the mounts and connectors for the stereo. I probably have what you are looking for if you don't mind shipping it from Newfoundland, Canada.

All the factory part u need could be found easy for bargain price at any local junkyard, that's the beauty of owning a camry.

I'm not so good at decompositing common sense concept, but I'll try anyways. As camry6 mentioned, when u pull back the switch, that's the hi beam, u can also push the switch forward from the normal position to get the hi beam, it will stay. If u want to turn the light on or off, turn the same switch in circular motion. In case u have already done so and the lights ain't on, time for the new bulbs.

Wow guys that was fast! Anyways, thanks for the replies. I should have been more clear on the lights. I know how they turn on, and yes, it will push forward, but they dont go to brights. They stay on dims. The only way they go bright is if you pull it back...Thats why I figured the switch was bad.

I checked junk yards and cant find anything around here. Camry 6.... what do you think it would cost to send the items? Email me at jrudicel@hotmail.com Thanks again guys!

If your High Beams don't turn on by pressing forward, you need to replace them.

The Low and High both turn on when you do that though..

And you're looking for these bulbs.... High = 9005 Low = 9006

Not to sound like a total idiot...but why would you replace the bulbs when they seem to work when you pull the lever back...just not forward? Seems to me the bulbs work....just a bad switch on the lever or something? Just trying to understand....

O.K. If the lever does move forward and stays there, but the lights don't come on- only when you pull back- The bulbs should be fine. It's probably the switch contacts inside the assembly, as you suspected. I do have a good switch assembly and the other parts I mentioned before. I can check on shipping for these items for you, I will let you know. I guess you need these parts ASAP, the only problem is that the parts car I have is at my parents house, about a 4 1/2 hour drive one way. If you can wait a few weeks, I can get them then. In the mean time I will consult my service manual's wiring diagrams to see if there are any possible solutions.

Thanks for the info. The switch is what i thought too. No hurry on the parts. I actually found a junk yard not too far away with a couple camrys...so I willl try that first. If no luck, then I will keep you in mind. I sure appreciate all your...and everyone elses... help and knowledge. Thanks again.
