Changing Distributor Housing: 3VZFE

I know it has to be simple. But I have to make sure their isn't a 'gotcha' with toyotas.

I pulled a new one off the pick n pull yard a few days ago. Looks straightforward: Just pop the cap off, then rotor, then the 2 bolts holding the housing on the block. Then just pull.

Now If I match up the alignment exact as the one I pulled, is that just about it?

It is that simple, the cam notch will only go on one way so there is no way to put it on the wrong way. Just remember to set your timing afterward!

Ok good. Was making sure I didn't have to turn the crankshaft to TDC and such, where I have read that somewheres.

Update:

Put the newer distributor housing on, car seems to run a lot better on part throttle.

The toyota dealership was right, it was leaking oil inside the housing really bad.


The cap leds were corroded fairly bad.

Like I said, step in throttle improved a whole lot.
