That's pretty disgusting, but not as bad as I've seen. Good for you for doing it.
However, instead of doing three or four fills, you could do your own flush now that you changed the filter. I post pretty heavily over at Benzworld, one of the members did his (after dropping the pan so he could change the filter) by unscrewing the cooler line from the radiator (he used the pressure side so he could put a tube on the line and direct it to a measured container). Then he fired up the car and ran out a quart or so, shut off the engine (obviously a two-person process), then added that amount in fresh fluid. Then he repeated the process until he got a quart of fresh fluid out at the cooler line Then he buttoned it back up, set the level and checked for leaks, that way he safely changed as much of the fluid as possible, including the stuff normally trapped in the valve body, cooler and of course, the torque converter.
Hi xtremeskier,
I have the same issue with my 99 v6 LE. My transmission is doing fine. But, my oil is way too dirty. What did you do and and what would you recommend I do?
What tranny oil and filter did you buy?
Did you replace yourself?
Please advise me? Thx.

I was using Penzoil tranny fluid. I havent changed the filter on the V6, just the I4, but I got them from PartsAmerica.com (same as AdvancedAuto Parts). I just drained it at the drain plug (allen socket) and filled back up. I was planning on doing this a few times, but with the other problems im having with this tranny, Im not sure Ill go further with it yet.
If I were you, I would drain and fill 3-4 times, replacing the filter and cleaning the magnets on the last fill.

It's called Trans-X, but I cant recommend it because I havent seen any improvements. There are several different options, Lucas Oil being the most expensive that Ive seen. I got it at Wal-Mart.
