'93 Radiator issues....boiling anitfreeze in the expan. tank

Anyone ever had this problem?

I don't see evidence of the a/f on the ground but it's constantly needing refilling, sometimes in the ex. tank, sometimes in the radiator itself.

After about an hour's drive, once the car is stopped the anti-freeze in the expansion tank is really boiling, to the point of popping off the cap a bit.

Were you able to fix it yourself or did it have to be taken in to a mechanic?
