ABS Light only on when cold?

The ABS light on my 96 camry recently started lighting up intermittently. I did a diagnostic and got a code 38, which is related to the right rear speed sensor?

However, what stumps me is that I got a resistance of 1.28 on that sensor, which is barely within the range of 0.9-1.3 that is stated to be normal.

What stumps me even more is that the light only shows up when the car's been sitting out in the cold? Is this just a coincidence, or does this actually mean anything?

BTW I don't know if this makes a difference, but my camry is an LE 4-cylinder, with disc brakes on all 4 wheels. I thought that the rears were supposed to be drum brakes, but maybe it's because of the fact that mine is an "American Edition"?

Nobody? The light is coming on more and more frequently, and Michigan winter's coming, so I'm gonna need this fixed.

Should I just go to the dealer and have the right rear sensor replaced?

Check the resistance of the other rear sensor and compare. Remove the "bad" sensor and test resistance after placing in the freezer, it could change. Check the wiring to the sensor for excess resistance.

If you are correct about Code 38 being the RR sensor odds are it is the sensor.

Save some money and buy an after market sensor for an auto parts store or websites such as Rockauto. Install it yourself, it is a straight forward job and you'll save a lot of money.

Ebay might have used sensors that are even cheaper.

Just to check if this is the right part, before I go retest the sensor tomorrow/possibly order, it's part number ALS266 on RockAuto?

Unsure.

The issue is the rear disk brakes on a 4 cylinder.

In the past I have taken the time to view the actual sensor on the car then compare with the photo.

Also make sure the wire length is the same.

If your going to replace the sensor, just remove it then measure and compare to the photo and other info.
