on my 95 es300 after coming to a stop from normal braking a hear this whirring sound like the ABS is coming on. this has been going on since ive gotten this car. the brakes are good they dont squeal at all. any suggestions on what it could be? if anyone wants to hear this sound i can record it for you.
i kinda figured the system itself was fine cause i tried it out when i got some room and i felt it come on and the abs light doesnt stay on after the the ignition is turned on. its just that sound is annoying and the judder i get in the brake pedal. where is this abs actuator thingy located??
Whirring sound? Where is the sound coming from? Do you have factory pads on the car?
The ABS actuator is at the right front of the car. When the ABS is activated, it will actually make kind of a rattling sound and the brake pedal will pulsate rapidly.

N.E.O.
it sounds like Something powers on for a second then turns off when I brake. It's coming from the drivers side. Idk if the pads are factory or not but they had alot of meat on them when I checked them 3 weeks ago. I'll record the video when I get home from school. It might help.
Can't really tell from listening to the video. Did the noise come on when you let of the accelerator to push on the brakes or did it come on when you are actually braking?

yea its when im actually braking and coming to a stop.
If you are positive that it is coming from the front you may want to pull the wheels off and inspect the calipers to make sure that the sliding pins are not sticking. If one of the pins is sticking it may not allow the pads to fully come in contact with the rotors which may cause a groaning type noise.
checked the sliders on all 4 wheels they're good and the brake pads might as well be new they've got a ton of meat on them. i think my problem is in the ABS itself but idk how i check that
When the ABS is operating you will feel it in the pedal not just a whirring type noise. And the ABS pump and actuator is on the right front corner of the engine compartment.
Are you very light and easy on the brake or heavy and hard? Sometimes if you are too easy on the brakes, it would also create a 'glaze' hard surface on the pads, which at times may cause noise too, mostly squeak.
Unless you are positive that it is coming from the left front wheel, try to narrow it down some more.
