5S FE Cylinder Heads: Calif Vs. Federal Whats the difference?
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a 5sfe California and a 5sfe Federal Head? Junkyards have them listed as not interchangeable. I have looked at them on the vehicle, and it looks like only induction components are different Why are they not interchangeable? I have a opp to get a cheap federal head for a spare for my car, but its a federal and my car is cal-emissions, so I was wondering if I could do something to make it work. Also, I would like to know if it is normal for my 96 to "burp" out a little engine coolant on a totally cold, running engine. I take the cap off, a couple spoonfuls of antifreeze "burps" out, and then the radiatior just seems to hold itself level. I have never seen this on a car without a head problem. I checked a 93 with 220k on it and it did it way worse. If someone has had this problem before I would like to hear
