So I have an '99 Avalon with a 1mz-fe. Already dropped in a k&n filter, bosch iridium +4 plugs, an optima yellow top, and full synthetic oil and filter. Now, what mods are there for making a 1mz faster? I know theres superchargers kickin around, but they're hard to find. Besides boosting it, are there stuff available like cams or other upgrades? Magnaflow makes a full header back exhaust but its like $400. Besides that, what stuff is there to upgrade? I heard msd makes next to nothing for these engines. Anyhow, thanks
How much would a 5spd swap be? I dont think that'll fly in an avalon, esp since its my parents lawwwwl. But uhh yeah does the ecu and all that crap just swap out? And would it need a flash of some sorts
What are you going to do with the ECU and why are you modding your parents' car? If you can't do a 5sp swap, why mess with the exhaust that could annoy the hell out of them with buzzing noise?
Leave the car as is and save your money for a a M5 or something if you're after speed.
depending on how you source it you can have a 5 speed and all swap parts from around 1200 to 2500. but you still need to install it and that will be expensive unless you do it yourself. personally, if this has to go by your parrents then id just try to find a TRD sc and call it a day. is the car yours(your the only driver but they own it) or do you share it with your rents?
I just drive it, don't pay anything for it. They pay insurance, gas, its already payed off, uhh and theyve payed for all the mods so far. Including the new 17's :p
Wheres a good place to pick up a trd sc? I could afford one at $2000 or so, but id need a $400 dyno. I live out in vegas btw
as long as its LS2 and if you can afford the gas. but id get somthing along the lines of a 240...an excelent car. light but not tiny, fairly good gas millage, hendles well, RWD, reliable, 4cly but descent tq, and tons of aftermarket.
Yeah theres a guy down the street from me who used to work for Titan MS thats building up a 240. Not a huge nissan guy but I know theyre good cars and you can do almost any mod to em
You will realize down the road that you should have NEVER put money into a Camry or Avalon.
Just from my experience anyways, I should have limited mods to sound system, drop, and wheels. All the other stuff was a waste of money (the AEM intake is okay I suppose).
