3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Just for sh!ts & giggles, I applied for car sponsorship for my gen3.5. I went through the whole application online, but stopped when I saw a $99 agency fee. I left it at that, and didn't complete the application. A few weeks went by, then I started getting voice mails about my application.
I decided to respond, and talked to them about the car. They seemed a bit too eager to help me out. They asked what I wanted to do to my car, and what I had already done. I said I wanted a new paint jod, full custom sound system, rims & tires, air suspension, and a mile long list of other work. Then I told them about the CF trunk, the projector headlights I built, blah, blah, blah... They said I could get all of that custom work I wanted done at no cost to me. I just have wear the sponsor's shirts, and hand out fliers at car shows that I would have to attend if the work is done.
I don't want to get taken for a ride like another TN member in another thread...
Hmmm... well, if you are willing to do all the work required (which probably will amount to more than wearing t-shirts and handing out fliers IMO) and see your camry the way you envisioned, go for it!

uibalnme, I got scammed hard by these douche bags.
UNLESS you have free time to go to A LOT of car shows, and disappointing "movie-fliming", and then end up not in anything you try for, please don't do it.
I was unaware of the $89 charge I had with this same place, and my checking account overdrew.
They didn't help me with squat and after I decided to stick with it, I tried going to a couple shows and one movie filming, and those events did nothing for me. Just a way for them to advertise, and for YOU to lose money.
I got shafted also a couple years ago with my accord, got nothing and did a lot for it. Just making somebody else rich. Stay away, buy something usefull for your car and take pride in not getting any help from a "sponsorship".

Yeah, that's what I thought. It was the way they sounded. They were all too happy to help me. Well, it's always nice to dream, but eventually a dream stays a dream so long, it becomes nothing more than a fantasy. My 65 Mustang coupe will be out of the paint & body shop soon anyway, so I'll have my real dream car to play with...

Are you serious about the Mustang? Post some pics if you are...
My right foot, yes. My wallet, no. The 65 Mustang will get only 8-11mpg when I'm done with it. 302 V8, Holly 650cfm double-pumper carb, Edelbrock performer 289 manifold, ceramic coated tri-y headers, magnaflow 3" dual exhaust, 3.55:1 gears, drilled/slotted power disc brakes, 1" drop all around, 17x8" rims, med. blue paint & matching blue/white interior, and the list goes on, and on...
The 302 came with the car and has cast iron heads. I'll eventually upgrade to a 351 with aluminum Edelbrock heads, and fuel injection.
I'll have to add 2 new tires to every oil change. LOL
I'll still mod the Camry, but not as much as the 'Stang(which may end-up twin turbo).

One dude that I went to H.S. with actually got full sponsor for his seri 3 (not M3) though. I remember riding on that "show car" when it was still normal.
So the sponsorships thing is not totally lame, but wait a min, what am i driving again? Camry ??? Ahh forget it.
