99 camry engine fans don't work

HI All,

I'll start by saying I am not mechnically inclined so am hoping for some advice

I've got a 99 camry (australian) and the engine fans aren't starting when the engine gets hot or the A/C is turned on.. I don't think the fan relays are the problem as I have replaced them.. Just not sure what to look at now?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

What do the fans do if you leave the car running with the A/C on? Have you check the fuses?

I will assume that the relay(s) have 4 wires. 2 wires under the same terminal is 1 wire. There should be 2 heavy wires and 2 smaller wires. The heavy wires are for the fan, the others to turn the relay on. If you were to remove the relay you should be able to jump out the heavy wires and turn the fan on, IF there is 12v on one of those wires. Goto Radio Shack and get yourself an inexpensive meter and find out. It could just be a blown fuse. The Manual should have the fuse locations.

Good luck

There are three relays, about three or four fuses, and a bunch of switches involve in the cooling fan circuit.

Hi,

The fans don't come on with the A/C on.. I think i have checked all fuses properly.. however I am still not getting any power at the fans so there must be either a fuse/relay or something stopping the flow of power.

How long did you run it? Is the engine overheating or just reading hot?

Thanks for the reply. So if I understand correctly.. The relay is sort of a switch, power flows to the relay and the relay lets the power flow to the fan if required.. If i check that there is power at each relay then it should work? if there isn't power then i need to find the cause?

Cheers

Paul
