4th Generation 4 Cyl 99 Camry LE starting Trouble

My 99 Camry came up with a strange problem today.

I was having a bit of trouble starting it when engine was cold, I needed to pump the brake a couple of times before getting the engine to start. Otherwise when i turn the key I hear a click and thats all. Battery was all charged, had it checked a couple of weeks back. All the lights on the dash come up correct, horn and headlights work fine.

Today on way back home when I started the car heard a screeching sound after the engine started. I ignored for about 10 mts and then pulled back into the parking. The sound was coming from the bonet so i turned of the key.

Now comes the best part. After turning of and removing the keys the engine tried to be trying to start itself without luck. Had to finally disconnect the battery terminal to make it stop.

Decided to get it towed to a garage. The towing guy told me that the remote starter is causing the problem. I was not aware that the car had a remote starter.

Has anyone come across a similiar problem? Do you think the problem could be something else?

4th Generation

My mechanic checked and told that the solenoid in the starter getting stuck was casuing the problem. No remote starter to worry about. Change the starter and have the problem fixed.
