3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have been trying to get some info from ARP, but with no reply (probably because of SEMA).
I am trying to find out if the 3sgte flywheel bolts, and main studs will work on a 5sfe. I am building the 5sgte using the 5s block, and crank, using 3sgte rods with the crank machined to fit, and the JE pistons for the 5sgte. I know the head studs will work, and would like to use the main studs and flywheel bolts also. Somebody let me know.

The 3s and 5s do have a different bolt pattern but I would say that the bolts would work. If you are interested, a lightened flywheel by Fidenza or other would fit both patterns which is not a concern here but, whatever. I can not help you with the main bolts except to say that they are likely to be the same thread count and bolt diameter. The length could be diff between the two. May I ask why you would machine the 5s crank instead of getting custom rods? From what I have read the 5s crank is actually stronger than the 3s. Seems like a bad idea to weaken it. Were you planning on using the 3sgte head?
I can't find any flywheel bolts from arp for the 5s

sup myfreecamry, quick ? for ya you say you're using the 3sgte rods, are you using stock or aftermarket because, if I'm not mistaken the 3sgte connecting rods are shorter than that of a 5sfe, might want to look into that to be sure, have you also looked into forged 5s rod? alot of mr2 guys use them when they stroke the 3sgte

a destroked engine would be when u use a 3s crank in a 5s block not just using rods from 3s and the 3s rods are shorter but not by much u can use 3s rods just have ur block or head decked
