Front Passenger Door wont lock.

Hi I have a 1994 Camry and my Front Passenger door won't lock or unlock unless I manually do it. This problem kinda just came out of the blue and I was wondering what it could be. Something is obviously not connecting in the door handle panel or something. How much would this cost to get fixed? I wouldnt think it would be expensive but what do I know?

Thanks for future help

Could be something as simple as a bad connection. Or you may need a new power lock actuator. Check eBay or the web for the part. Won't cost much if you put it in yourself.

Check out the DIY on how to take the door panel apart, if you want to do it yourself. This seems to be a common problem with Toyotas, as both my Camry and the Sienna has that problem. The mechanic will charge way too much to fix the simple problem.

I've been too lazy to tackle it though, I might try for it over winter break.

To be clear, niether the switch on the drivers door or the switch on the passenger door will actuate the passenger door lock, is that correct? If neither switch will actuate the door lock on the passenger side, i would suspect the door control relay box under the dash. It could also be wiring but if the door panel hasnt ever been removed or the car never in a accident in the drivers door area, the odds are slim that the wiring is damaged.

Okami: My 1999 Camry had the same issue on the passenger front door. The door lock actuator gave out. This component is bolted to the door latch, which is difficult to replace. I bought a new actuator and confirmed the old one is bad (new actuator moves when plugged into the car's wiring harness), but I have not been able to get the latch assembly out yet (real pain the butt)!
