Thermostat - jiggle valve?

I'm replacing the thermostat on my 92 Camry. The original/OEM thermostat has a jiggle valve on it. The Stant thermostat I purchased does not have a jiggle valve on it. I've read that the jiggle valve allows air to pass through the thermostat - something that is supposedly useful as you're refilling the coolant.

Should I purchase another thermostat with the jiggle valve?

The Stant replaces the jiggle valve with a small orifice. Hold the valve up to the light and look for the hole. Install the Stant with the bleed orifice in the 12 o'clock position. My Stant works fine.

Thanks - I looked at the thermostat and didn't see any orifice on the flat part circling the center section of the thermostat. I called up the auto parts store and asked about it. They agreed, they couldn't see an orifice. They assumed that Stant redesigned it and it should be OK. They said it's a SuperStat which is their premium model. They double-checked to make sure it was the proper part for the 92 camry with 2.2 L engine.

I looked on the Stant website, and the part number I received matches with the website number.

Stant describes the SuperStat as a "patented v-notch, non-linear design"

"The v-notch provides a small inital flow. As the engine heats up, the v-notch gradually opens wider, metering coolant into the system until the desired engine temperature is reached"

Maybe this design doesn't need a jiggle valve?

Looks like it doesn't fully close and always allows some flow even when cold. The jiggle valve or orifice is to prevent air from being trapped in the system. The partial opening of this thermostat will do the same thing. You'll be fine, looks like a good product. I've never had a Stant fail.
