Power Windows...Again!

1994 V6 Wagon

I am having issue with both rear power windows...I was having issues with the front passenger ( down but not up ) and replaced the assembly with an aftermarket part and it works like a charm now.

Now the rear... The driver side rear window goes down but not up...If I jump the motor directly at the connector using an alternate power source ( cordless drill battery) it goes up and down fine. Using a test light it appear the switch is sending power to the motor for both up or down actions on the switch...yet the window will only go down. Almost seems like there is not enough power to push the window up??

The other rear window only seems to operate from the driver controls.

I know the issues has been beat about, but I am looking for advice on my next steps to trouble shoot?

It sounds as if you have a bad connection or groung somewhere in the circuit and it's acting like a resistor, dropping the voltage to the motor.

All power windows ground through the master switch in the driver's door. You have to check for power and ground at the motor connection when operating the switches. My guess for the left rear door it is the master switch. The right rear door could have a bad switch or broken power wires to the switch.

Thanks!

If I use a test light at the connector just before the motor it show power for both attaction up/down... yet the window will only go down.

I guess I will check the master switch panel... maybe a bad ground as DFBonnet indicated.

Did you check it with the test light across the two terminals? You may have power, but you are looking for both power and ground at the connector.

Thanks! ... Still no real luck.

I switch the driver rear switch ( only down & no control from the front) with the passenger rear switch ( only up and full control from the front) and the passenger rear window worked fine and the other no action at all....So I am thinking I have 1 bad switch and some other wiring issue or master switch issue...but wait now the passenger rear stop working again!

I think I need to look for a broken wire or master switch issue ... fun fun...
