Wanting to go turbo

So right now i have a 1994 Toyota Camry with a 5FSE. I want to go turbo, but i need to ask a couple questions first. First off i don't want to turbo the 5SFE. What I'm planning to do is buy a different engine and swap it in to my car. What i need your guy's help with is deciding what engine. I would love to put a 3S-GTE in it but i read the stickies and couldn't find anything on doing this swap. Has it ever been done? and if so can someone please give me a link if there is a thread on it? And if the 3S-GTE wouldn't work then what do you guys recommend in terms of V6's that will go in with the least amount of modifications. I appreciate your guys' help.
-Nate

Your best options would be between a 5SGTE or full 3SGTE swap.
Depends how much you want to spend. The extent of these projects are costly and are of course going to be very drawn out. How much power are you looking for?
On a full 3SGTE swap, you can probably pull it off for $6K-8K depending on where you source your parts. Either direction you go is going to require a lot of wiring, etc.
But IMO, like I'm doing, I'd go with a 5SGTE setup. All you have to do is splice wires, drill out water jackets on your block and head gasket to match the 3S head and a tranny swap. Either e153 or s54.
As a package, you'd probably pay more for engine and tranny on online motor sites than you can actually pick both parts up separate (from what I've seen).
You should search harder because there are a lot of posts about this actually

personally, for simplicities sake id want to do a V6(1mzfe) 5speed swap then turbo that. the V6 and tranny can be had for(depending on how your surce the parts) about the same as just the 3sgte motor. ther are quite a few people who currently have a turbo V6 project. however theres much more aftermarket performance support for the 3sgte then the 1mz. like JP said theres plenty of info on here and solaraguy.com on turbo V6 as well.

wow, a lot of people want to turbo these days.
the only thing i can say, seeing as i havent turbocharged a camry yet, would be to search, search, search. do as much research as you can. decide on the pros and cons of each engine and then pick your turbo, intercooler, wastegate, and everything else and do research on those. turbo is a big project. the engine will more than likely have to be built to withstand sustantial boost.
and a random question to you, bigbird. you had a trd supercharger on your gen4, am i right? how was that compared to a turbo and stock. was there a sustantial increase in power? how did the engine hold up to the boost?
