4th Generation Just got my first camry... couple questions!

So I just picked up my first Camry - an automatic 97 LE i4. Obviously nothing too speedy... haha. I bought it with the intention of using it strictly as a daily driver (not my personal choice for a tuning platform and I've already got my project car...) but I still want to do some fun little things here and there. I'm more interested in the lowered, tinted, big wheel (not chrome gangsta) 'classy' look for this kind of car. Lookin to make a nice little cruiser.

And don't worry I've worked on cars before and I'm not some 14 year old kid who just got his first car and wants to know if i can get some subs a turbo and a body kit for 60 bucks.

So I've taken a look around at all the FAQ's and the photo gallery (props to all you guys - alot of you have some pretty nice lookin mobiles) - I never knew there was such an established camry fanbase. I guess it's just not as common as your staple obnoxious fartcan civic everyone has on their street.

All I've done so far is wire in a new deck, and route a 4 awg through that pain in the ass opening through the firewall and inner fender. Rest of the audio to come soon.

Anyways - sorry for the long intro, on to the questions.

Wondering if anyone has run 18x9's, at a decent drop w/ ET40?45? and if so - how much of a rubbing issue they had. I'd prefer not to pull/roll fenders just cause of tool rental costs. If it's too much of a hassle i can deal with 18x8's maybe even 7 if its low enough. If you have any opinions on your perfect stance feel free to share.

Other thing is I'm wondering if anyone has benefitted from the use of a camber kit... not sure how raked the control arms get on these things if you drop it enough.

I'm sure i'll think of something else as soon as i push 'post' but ya guess thats it for now.

18x8 +30 in front (stock)

Gr-2/S-techs
Rubbing issue: PLENTY with 3 people. .. BUT with 2- no rubbing at all!

Looks good One_to_Hate. I kinda want the S-Tech's instead of my Eibachs.

thanks One_to_Hate for the info, i like the look of your stance - im worried though that without the (im pretty sure thats the trd) body kit, it might look a little bit awkward.

another thought: anyone tucking tire on 18x7's or even 17's? if youre confused i come from a european tuning background so i like my wheels overly wide and/or tucking haha. Has to be slammed either way.

So I found a picture of my ideal stance and I'm wondering if anybody knows any history of the car and what it has for a setup. I found the picture on cardomain.com so I'm not taking any credit for anything... Not necessarily my first choice in wheels but the size of wheel, tire profile, ride height are all perfect. And if the person who owns this car comes across this, then i hope you dont mind me using your pics - its been used as a good example.

So ya anyone have any info?

thats real low...its probably on coilovers. dropzones and sprint springs have a low drop too but they arent very stiff and would require stiff shocks to keep it from bottoming out on stuff. wheels look like 18s too.
