3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I bought my 1996 Camry about 3 weeks ago. I've searched and can't find anything on what appears to be a Canadian version of this sedan. It has a badge on the trunk lower area 'Plus', and 'DX V6' on the upper right part of the lid. From the VIN I know it was made in the US plant in Georgetown Kentucky, and the model code part of the VIN is 'BF12K' (digits 4 - 8).
The sticker on the door identifies it as 'Model: MCV10L-CEPDKK', manufactured '01/96'. I can't find this in any of the model listings for this year, either on-line or on my service/parts CD's.
Anyone out there know something about the 'Camry Plus'?
Oh yeah, it doesn't appear to be anything like a 'deluxe' edition, cloth seats with no adjustment except forward/backward (even though the owners manual shows a non-power seat with 2 adjusters on the side and a lumbar control), no sunroof, but plastic wood-looking surrounds on the dash panels.

It must be a regional thing. Every few years, Toyo comes out with a "Carolina Edition" here in North Carolina. They usually have special badges or trim but little difference beyond that.

If I recall, the Plus was offered with an option package, ie air conditioning, power windows etc. ( the most popular options from previous entry level buyers that did not buy an LEin the region) at the price of the DX.

you forget that the regular LEs in canada have almost all the xle features too...so it's really just an LE
my buddy had a "plus" and it was basically exactly the same as mine- no sunroof, no power seats, no leather, etc. But had the buttons on the hvac, visors with personal lights, dimming dome lights, lit key rings, etc.

If u meant the CE edition, I've seen some gen 3.5 in the down south here. They are white sedans with factory 2 tones paint (silver bottom). On the fender right at the edge between 2 tones paint, it said Collector Edition.
For my understanding, they are fully loaded like XLE v6, with one or two weird interior features. I'm gonna hunt for those soon
After having a DX plus and now an LE here's what I concluded. The DX being (ironically) the entry level Camry, it came bone stock w/ manual tranny. For those who wanted more comfort, closer to the LE, you had the Plus, with power windows, locks, antenna, a/c and woodtrim dash. For more info, go see a toyota dealer that selled these cars in the 90's, since its pretty much a dealer package option.

A lady that works were I do has a gen 4.5 that is indeed two toned, but it has a "Carolina Edition" written in the pin strip. It is loaded to the max except for the fact it has a 4cyl.
