Canada Looking for an English version of the VIP remote doorlock manual (1996 Camry)

Only in Canada....I received a French version of the user manual for the s1000 VIP remote with my car. I've been to the dealer, and spent hours on the web, and can't find anything on how to program this thing or how to use it.

It's the black, oval shaped remote, 2 buttons, FCC# BAB237131-022. The picture is from Fleabay, but it matches mine.

Several places on the net sell programming instructions, but they don't guarantee they'll work and are non-refundable. It's frustrating trying to decipher the language. I'd gladly scan and post the manual if someone would do the same with the English version.

Anyone from Quebec that would like to trade?

I did put a new battery in it and pressing the top button once locks the doors, pressing it again unlocks them. But the manual shows pictures of the lights flashing and other stuff that I'd like to understand.

Thanks very very much!

Great work, thank you. I'm sure many others will too. Unfortunately (or fortunately), it appears that my setup is way simpler than this. I printed off everything you published, in the hopes that some of it will work for mine.

I think the RS3000 was the successor to what I have, the S1000. I don't have the 'status monitor' pictured on page 3, so likely the only functionality is locking/unlocking the doors/trunk. I'll get to a thorough study of your manual tomorrow.

Here's a crappy scan of the French manual I have, for what it's worth.

I see references to the upper and lower button in there, and lots of lights flashing, so maybe the part on setting up the door locks will work for my unit.
I'll post back later on findings , as I know there are others out there that are also missing an S1000 manual.....and still hoping someone has one and might chime in here.

After reading through your *excellent* manual, alas, the S1000 system is very different, or at least, what I have is. In a nutshell, my remote and ECU (small box under the driver's seat) appear to do two things: Automatically lock all the doors when the key is turned to 'on' (and keep them locked until it's turned off, to the steering 'lock'), and allow remote door locking/unlocking by pressing the big button, once to lock, once to unlock, accompanied by a flash of the parking lights and 'on' of the inside dome light for 20 secs or so. Of course, the '96 trunk opener is a cable, so trunk opening is not involved at all

I finally resorted to Babelfish and translated the French stuff as best I could to try and get rid of the annoying locking of the doors while the car is running. To do this, to reprogram to only remote lock/unlock:

1. Turn ignition key to 'on'
2. Press both remote buttons at the same time for about 2 seconds
3. Within 30 seconds, press the small button only and turn the key to 'lock'

I'm gonna see if I can buy a second remote on EBay cheap. If I do, there is a French piece on programming a second unit. I'd still like to have the skinny in English though....Babalfish is a royal pain.
